CALLE SANTA FE BY CARMEN CASTILLO (2007)

Carmen Castillo’s Calle Santa Fe is a monumental documentary about Chilean resistance and its repression by the Pinochet estate. In 1974, Castillo was forced to exile after she escaped a military assault that took her husband’s life -Miguel Enriquez, one of the MIR leaders. France has thus become her adoptive country. From there however, the struggle continues more than ever. As Castillo returns to Chile, she tries to gather the pieces from her memories but also from her relatives, neighbors and formers comrades to question the sense of a lifetime struggle that aroused so many sacrifices.
